The Pabs T Crew

I was tidying up the studio recently and dug out a few ancient cassettes, including this one which was given away free with Sun Pat Peanut Butter. My brother had recorded a couple of metal-influenced tracks on it (one, enticingly titled “Hungry For Power”), but I also had a track on the tape…
It was recorded in the mid 80s with schoolfriends when I was about 14. It’s a rap tune. And it’s horrific. We used a Fostex 4-track and Specdrum – the drum machine program for the Sinclair Spectrum. It also features some inept scratching and an excrutiating beatbox section. The end sequence is an impression of our history teacher who was teaching us about the Russian Revolution at the time.
And yes, I am the aforementioned Pabs T (oh, the shame).

Best thing I’ve ever heard. Bar none.

If only B3ta radio was still going. We’d have broadcast that.
Mostly for the specdrum content…
